EVERY so often, the rebirth of Reggae music converges on the masses like a volt of electricity; it awakens, rejuvenates and inspires real music. In this
period, time-defying sounds are produced and great artists are plateaued to
the world reiterating why Reggae is the father of all genres. Kemar Donaldson
more popularly known as” KRANIUM” is one such artist who has patiently
honed his vocal skill and is now carving out his career in an industry where
the best is never good enough; you have to be great and that is exactly what
he is.
Born August 12, 1990 in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Kranium spent most of his
childhood days immersed in the islands signature music. He was raised on a
staple of rootsy Reggae music, love and a belief that determination and talent
would enable him to achieve beyond the norm. This belief has remained
cognisant and he now focuses everything on his first love; music.
Blessed with vocal talent and the ability to pen lyrics in intricate verse and
catchy hooks, Kranium migrated to Florida, USA in the summer of 2005, to
further his education at Boyd Anderson High School. It was here that he got
his first taste of the studio and this new found addiction consumed him. “I
recorded my first track here, it was a nice song, for some reason it didn’t
kick off as anticipated, but this just gave me more reason to pursue my
dream.” By September 2006 he had moved to New York to attend Jamaica
High School and enrolled into an after-school Performing Arts class. It was
here Kranium distinguished his talent with the coaching assistance of his
tutors and teachers and he began to perform on stage to his peers to
outstanding ovation.
It wasn’t long before the buzz on the streets, intrigued many and he began to
make a name for himself as a gifted vocalist, lyricist and brilliant stage
performer. He began to win countless street battles and was booked to open
for an eclectic mix of stage shows and private parties stateside to include;
Gyptian, Serani, Jadakiss, I-Octane and Tarrus Riley. In 2011 he was
awarded the ‘Artist of the Year’, in Queens, NY for his outstanding
achievement as a newcomer in the music.
2013 is the official launch of Kranium, he has been
working hard to build a catalogue of hard-edged music to
capture hearts and add to his solid fan-base. He is confident
and ready to let the world know the real Kranium. Banging
tracks such as ‘Different Love’, ‘This Morning’ and
‘Nobody Has To Know’ will establish him among his musical
peers. Songs such as ‘Happiest Man Alive’, ‘Love For You’,
‘Another Saturday Night’ ‘Up & Away’ will undoubtedly set
him apart.
His sweet smooth melodic vocals entwine vividly with the
dramatically rich beats custom-produced for him but his
versatility will see him jump on any track and blow it
away. The underground love him and his commercial
viability is ensuring industry agents are keen to see
what more he can offer… 2013 will prove he is just
getting started, there is certainly so much more to come.
Listen out for his official debut EP ‘Happiest Man
Alive’ releasing summer 2013 on iTunes.

Young, Beautiful and Talented with an effervescent personality, Denyque Dontre lives by the quote “Nulli Secunda” (Latin for “Second to None”), firmly believing that aiming for the top and never settling for less is the only way to achieve ones dreams. At 20 years old, this singer/songwriter has reached a level of musical maturity that is far beyond her years; and with a distinctive and innate talent that promises to be one of Jamaica’s finest, Denyque is determined to take her place in music history.

After winning several medals in Jamaica National Festival song competitions at 11 and 12 years of age, Denyque went on to be a straight “A” student when attending the prestigious Belair High School in Mandeville, Jamaica. After graduating with honors in 2008, financialrestrictions kept her from accepting a scholarship to Berklee School of Music in Boston in the same year, but Denyque still couldn’t resist her calling to music and decided to keep following her passion.

Under the tutelage of Phillip “Juniour Arrows” Linton, Arrows management steered her to her first hit single “Can’t Breathe” in early 2009. She followed up with another hit single “Pieces”, produced by veteran producer Don Corleon, and then continued honing her skills with producers Neil “Cash Flow” Mitchell, Conroy Forte from Washroom Productions, and another industry veteran, producer Jeremy Harding, releasing her latest single , “Super Girl”.

After her stint with Arrows management had ended, Denyque’s efforts would not go unnoticed and one meeting with Jade Lee CEO of Jade Promotions sealed a newmanagement deal in early 2010.

“An incredible vibe and great chemistry! I can safely say for the first time I feel completely secure as an individual and as an artiste”, Denyque admitted.

Hailing from Kempshot of Montego Bay Jamaica, Tenza A.K.A The Bosslady is a musical angel in disguise. Born and raised in a family of fifteen, which consisted of nine brothers and Five sisters, she grew up in a life of struggle and disappointment so she certainly knows how to appreciate all of her blessings that she has been given and her musical talent was definitely one of those blessings not taken for granted.

Tenza left Jamaica when she was only fourteen to reside in the UK, in the town of Slough. For Tenza it was a difficult time leaving all her friends and family to begin a whole new life in England. At first, she found it hard adjusting to the new culture especially in school.
As time went by Tenza made new friends when she started to attend the slough youth center music classes. Tenza then felt at home as she now found her joy, which is music.,  She started to attend dance classes, singing classes and entering competitions, put on by the slough youth center.

Tenza has always retained a strong passion for Dancehall and Reggae music that was so prominent in her life. Living the life she lived back in Jamaica, it was the empowering and highly uplifting sounds of Bob Marley, Yellow Man, Beres Hammond, Bounty Killer, Denis Brown, Lady Saw, Super Cat and Beenie Man that kept her faith and hope strong throughout all these years to make it and become what she has become today.
Overcoming many obstacles, Tenza’s skills had created an opportunity for her to become a member the electric trio ‘Fya’ - the formerly Def Jam signed female dancehall group. ‘Too Hot’ and ‘Must Be Love’ being a couple of the many hits Gold selling ‘Fya’ released.

Since Tenza departed from the group FYA in 2009, she has being working very hard on her solo career. She even started up her own record label “ TMD Records” for Tenza this was the most important decision she has ever had to make as she has been approached on countless occasions by major labels, but have turned the offers down to focus on her own label.

Since the start of her label Tenza released three solo studio albums “ Ready Back” “Wicked Like Me” and  “ Pon Dem Endz Again” to go with a number of Eps, and two official promotional mixtapes.   In Spite of all this Tenza as been working vigorously day and night in the studio to complete her 4th studio album, the album which will be featuring a number of productions from Tenza’s own TMD Records. Tenza has not only been working with top European producers but top Jamaican producers as well, as she pushes her solo career as a sing-jay in the music industry, so far Tenza has been getting heavy air play on a number of Internet, FM and digital radios and also featured and a number of mixed tapes and other compilation Cd's around the world.

Tenza has surrounded herself with a positive group of people who have been pushing countless promotions in their aim to get Tenza’s message across to the world, Even though most of her tracks has been holding radios in submission world wide, Tenza still continue to work hard to master her craft as an recordings artist.

Tenza as a recording artist have complete several musical tours across the world in countries such as India, Japan, Malaysia, Sweden, Austria, Gambia and Uganda to name a few, and have received several awards including the CMA award for best International cross over artist  and best female dancehall solo artist of the year 2013 DIA UK awards.  Tenza have also being doing a number of work for charities including Sue Ryder Midnight all female 10km walk, a proud sponsors of Buckingham All-age school in her native Jamaica, Tenza Fan Club in Brikarma Gambia and Also the Brikarma Health Centre of which she being name goodwill ambassador.

Tenza work as an artist being chronicled by a number of reggae magazines, new papers and blog sites world wide and have being recently scouted by the BBC to co-host with the UK top dancehall dj Robbo Ranxx on BBC 1xtra for the month of May 2013.

Tenza sees herself as role model for all young females who want to make it in life whether in the music industry or anything other fields, her message is always the same stand strong and work towards your dreams and goals.

“The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can't do.” Tenza Di Boss Lady

UK REGGAE ARTIST: TUGGAWAR

Picture
Tuggawar is a young, dancehall artist from hackney london, whose story is so compelling, it would even get a Hollywood scriptwriter’s pulse racing.

The first to remember is that he’s no novelty act, but a deejay with serious skills. Tuggawar and confederates like Freedom – who does brilliant impersonations, by the way – produce tracks themselves, with most of the recordings having taken place at Tuggawar’s own studio in Hackney, London.

The surest indication yet that this son of Greek and Irish parents is keeping it real, no matter the acclaim he’s already received in Jamaica itself.

“We had our own local sound when I was young,” he explains, “but I was always listening to tapes of Unity and then Saxon with Papa Levi, Smiley Culture, and Tippa Irie. From Jamaica, I used to listen to
Super Cat, Ninjaman, and Johnny Ringo. I always wanted to be a deejay, and I started writing from very early. I do other music now, but I was into reggae more than anything else and still am, because reggae’s the foundation of musics like grime, drum & bass, and hip hop. All of them
revolve around reggae, and they couldn’t exist without it, but those early dancehall pioneers had a massive impact on me. I think the standard of deejaying was higher back then, than what it is now. They
took the trouble to write proper lyrics, and that showed in their records and what they were doing on sound-system, y’know?”

Just as any serious newcomer should, Tuggawar took time out to learn the art of deejaying properly, and he was therefore already well practised before his grand adventure really began, and he took his
first trip to Jamaica. ”In 2001 I went down to Jamaica for two weeks, and ended up staying for a few years,” he says, laughing at the memory. “That was more by accident than design. I didn’t know anybody.
I just went down there with my girlfriend, met some of her family and that was it. We arrived in Kingston, but stayed in Spanish Town, and it was real hardcore.

“Basically, I got jailed for weed out there, and was locked up with Jah Cure and Zebra in Spanish Town prison. I was on the same block as them, and they had a concert in the prison one Easter Monday. That was the first time I ever performed in Jamaica, and there were two thousand prisoners at that show! Jah Cure called me up on stage, I wrecked the place, and then Sean’s father told me I reminded him of
his son, because he was in there as well. He was getting released two weeks before me, and said he’d arrange for me to stay in Jamaica, because they were going to deport me otherwise. He was willing to
support me, so he contacted Roy Francis, who took care of the immigration people.

Roy then produced my first tune, Hot Gal, on Sly & Robbie’s Macca rhythm. It was after that I began hanging round Mixing Lab, and all these other artists would pass through. Lexxus, he was there one day,
and asked me to voice on this rhythm he had. I said yes straightaway, and from that day onwards, we started rolling together. He brought me on stage at a lot of shows, and introduced me to a lot of producers.
That’s how I ended up doing so many recordings, because whenever one of these producers wanted to voice Lexxus, he’d say to record me first.

I didn’t get any strong tunes from my time in Jamaica, but I did make quite a name for myself as a performer, and that’s how Laing came to book me on Sting and a good many other shows down there, including Vybz Kartel’s birthday bash.

“To give you an idea of how much work I was doing, I got released from prison in May 2002, and by September I was booked to perform at Sting for the first time. Then just before I left, I met up with Steely &
Clevie, who offered me a recording contract, except due to some family problems here in England, I never got to sign it. After that, I began to build my own Pro-Tools studio, and apart from doing shows and
recordings, I did a lot of networking as well.

His profile’s continued to rocket in the meantime, mainly thanks to MySpace and support slots on recent UK tours by Beenie Man and Busy Signal. After that debut in Spanish Town Prison, no audience on earth
can worry him, and that spell behind bars inspired a good few lyrics as well.

Does it require a different approach, chatting on conventional rhythms? “Well yes, but I grew up listening to Saxon and Unity, so it’s nice to include some original, one-drop, rub-a-dub style rhythms.
Request To The Farmer is another like that, and was one of my biggest tunes when I was in Jamaica, because I was doing it round about the time of their election, in 2002. I remember hearing Seaga [Edward
Seaga, the Opposition Leader, who’s of Lebanese extraction] declare that, ‘me nah born yah, but me for yah.’ I was listening to it on the radio with Gadaffi the producer, and said, ‘I can write a tune from that!’ Those were the lyrics that got me booked for Sting, because I’d go on stage and say, ‘me nah born yah, but me on yah, request to the farmer, who grow the yam and the banana. Down inna the west, me get my
high-grade marijuana,’ and the crowds would go crazy. That was a massive tune for me down there.” “Well, I’ve always seen myself as a hardcore deejay, but I like doing more melodic
things too, I like showing my versatility on all types of rhythms, and sometimes taking a different kind of approach, rather than chanting on it, or deejaying. It’s like a sing-jay sort of style, and it’s a style
I like, so if I feel that vibe from certain rhythms, I’ll keep doing stuff like that. No one’s really heard Tuggawar like that before. It’s different, y’know?”

And hes new album #GANJA Produced by Chester Walker for very huge records is a master piece !
with tracks like ganja on the answer riddim , LOVE WEED which is a next world wide ganja anthem also HIGH GRADE GANJA Featuring MR LEXX is a sure hit ! also songs like PARTY which is a Lenky {Dwaili} made beat and a sure anthem ! along with the return of the street sweeper by Steelie & Cleavie Classic Riddim the track called NU BAD is sure to be a street hit ! also great tracks like WAR , DISRESPECT are real hardcore Dancehall hits ! theres also GIVE THANKS FOR LIFE which is a one drop style and DIAMOND STONE for the ladies , along with great
skits this album is sure to go down in history as a Reggae/Dancehall all time Classic Album.

JAMAICAN PRODUCER: MARKUS MYRIE

Picture
Markus was the name his friends bestowed on him at an early age. Born Mark Myrie  (1994-) to parents Mark Anthony Myrie( Buju Banton) & Lorna Strachan in Havendale, Kingston, Markus is a front runner in music production in Jamaica today. Being the son of the renowned musical icon, Buju Banton, Markus was introduced to music at a very early age so it is therefore not surprising that he had chosen a viable career in music production.
The young prodigy started his professional career roughly three years ago by building his riddims and then approaching artistes to voice. He had full access to Gargamel Studio, and he had known most of the artistes but even then, it still wasn’t so easy to get the artistes to voice; something that was expected since he was a young producer. Markus is the epitome of perseverance and it was this characteristic along with his analytical mind that led to a successful career.
Since his introduction to music production, Markus has continued to make a huge impact on the musical landscape through the creation of his unique musical arrangements and high quality production. The development of his craft is as a result of his exercising due diligence in his works thus ensuring that he only produces quality music.
Markus has worked with an impressive list of established artistes that includes  Mavado, I-Octane, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Blak Ryno, Agent Sasco, Shaggy, Christopher Martin, Romain Virgo, D’angel, Denyque, Tifa  just to name a few.
Some of his first projects were the ‘’Beating Stick Rididm’’ ‘’5th Gear Riddim’’ and the “Mattress Riddim” which were released in 2011.
The truly evolutionary producer who is known for his bold unique styles of music, enjoyed his first hit in 2012 with the massive single  “Badmind Dem a Pree” by Bounty Killer and I Octane which led him to being nominated for producer of the year by the Star People’s Choice Awards, an award which he won by a huge margin. The success of this single also gave him the recognition and respect that he wanted as young producer.
Markus Records currently manages two artistes, D’East and Bryka.  Markus has been working with them closely for the past two years; both are extremely talented artistes.
Today Markus credits his success, largely to the path his father, Buju Banton paved and to the respect he had garnered over the years. His arsenal of hits continue to grow and likewise his accolades. Markus is definitely on his way to a very illustrious career in music production. His Philosophy remains…
