Alaska was raised in a family of fifteen, which consisted of eight brothers and
six sisters, he grew up in a life of struggles, disappointment and pain, Alaska who is the young brother of UK based reggae artist Tenza and cousin to reggae
legend Eddie Fitzroy, Alaska is a true musical and lyrical genius.
Alaska started out his music career at Buckingham all age school, in
kempshot where he performed on school fairs and class parties for his fellow
school mates, but only decided to take his music career more seriously after to
finishing his studies at Maldon high school, coming together with four of his
childhood friends to formed Western Jamaica based dancehall group Tyme Square.
During his time with Tyme Square, Alaska had recorded a number of tracks on
bootleg riddims which rules the underground reggae music scene in western
Jamaica at the time. Alaska and his group have opened a number of top reggae
shows across western Jamaica making a name for themselves in the
reggae/dancehall music industry. At the end of 2010 Alaska decided to take a
break from the group to focus on his career as a solo artist. In April 2011
Alaska was recommended to Ritchie Killahrich Cephus from UK based label TMD
Records, by his Sister reggae artist Tenza who is also sign to TMD Records.
After few meetings with TMD Records representatives in Jamaica Alaska decided
to sign a development musical contract with TMD Records to launch his career as
reggae artist on the international scene.
Alaska is now in studio working
day and night to perfection his music to an international standard and is
schedule to release a number of promotional single later this year, before
recording his debut mixtape and EP to be release early 2012.
One can except
a lot from this young talented Jamaican artist who is mission to show the world
that there is still a diamond in the dirt of dancehall music in
Ritchie Killahrich Cephus
