It’s an undisputed fact that Benjamin is one of the Gambia’s most   talented rising  dancehall artistes at the moment. His ability in the studio booth, on stage and on the mic are a clear manifestation of his remarkable talent in reggae dancehall.
Born Kawsu Ceesay, this sprouting star’s musical career began at  his childhood. It was not a coincidence that he found himself in the center of a dancehall loving town-Brikama, which is the  home to some of the country’s finest talents like the Don of the game-Rebellion D’ Recaller, Hurricane,  you name it.
Benjamin’s ever increasing fan base in the country is just amazing. He is loved by the youths, elders and above all reggae queens. According to many, he has been a keen music lover at an early age, spending most of his time watching reggae music videos and listening to dancehall music.
This according Benjamin had  greatly motivated him as well as  further   enhance his  interest in music especially  when  he turned 13. This period he said  marked the  turning point in his life as it was at this age that he started  to  realize and pursue his hidden talent and destiny.
He was a member of the Frontline Crew, a music movement that produces some of the Gambia’s finest reggae dancehall stars.  From there, the youngster took a giant step towards his dreams. This naturally talented young Gambian musician is no doubt the king of the dancehall at the moment as rightly put in  one of his  songs. “I am called by the music and I have no option but to answer. Music is in my life,” says Benjamin in one of his interviews.
Benjamin’s ever increasing popularity has gone beyond the borders of this country and he is widely known and featured in a number of international collabo projects. And in most of these projects, he steals the show thanks to his creative style and distinctive melodious songs.
He earlier dropped a track on the ‘Guidance Riddim’, which has been released by the label, as well as on ‘The Answering Riddim’ both of which have    stormed the country’s airwaves. Watch out for more sounds from this inspirational star.

The artiste has had credible success since the release of her Ex Boyfriend single last year, and then followed with Mr DJ Boy and Crazy. She is growing in her music and now is a recognised name in Caribbean reggae.

Bullie, produced by ace Christopher Birch, has a slower tempo than her previous three singles, but still carries the sumptuous voice of Carter on a signature Birch Hill records beat.

"It's a bit controversial but we took it there. The guys talk about these things all the time and we can do it as well," she said Carter.

The song is accompanied by a video, released recently, which, Carter said, is cutting edge.

"We actually do not have any guys in this video, just some sexy girls having fun and showing the diversity of the Caribbean and Belize," she said.

Now preparing for the launch of her yet-to-be-named album, Carter, who continues to be Belize's top reggae artiste, reveals that the album is a combination of her experience in the music.

"This album is about my growth in the music; talking about everything from love to hate. We are working with different producers out of places like Africa, Miami, LA and Jamaica. We wanted to do a reggae-fusion album.

"This album is being directed by my new team and we are working on taking the music to higher heights and becoming more known, not just in the Caribbean, but also the United States and Europe."

SINGJAY Don Husky makes an appeal for more airplay for aspiring artistes with On and On, his latest single, produced by Downsound Records.
Although only 21 years-old, Don Husky (Rushane Brown) has done the studio rounds since he was a student at Holy Trinity High School in Kingston.
He is familiar with the challenges of trying to get that big 'buss'.
"Yuh song will play a Boasy Tuesday or Weddy Weddy but it neva pass the airport 'cause it don't get play pon radio," he said. "Is a money thing; nobody should get pay fi play music (on radio)."
Don Husky's passion about the lack of airplay for budding acts can be heard on On and On. He says his previous songs including Wah my Own and Have You Ever Loved Someone, got favourable exposure on radio.

Wah my Own was produced by 'Foota Hype', his mentor. Both are from the Whitehall Avenue area of St Andrew.

It was Foota Hype who introduced him him to Downsound, a label that has worked with a number of acts including Nanco, Ninjaman, Fantan Mojah, Nature and DYCR.

Don Husky says being around 'elders' like Ninjaman inspired him to write On and On.

"Him always tell mi sey when him start out from a song good it get play, it wasn't a money thing. The young artiste dem jus' want a chance," he said.

The inaugural Fashion Forward runway show held over the weekend exposed talent that is vast among unheralded local designers.
The event, attended by fashion enthusiasts among other guests, was exciting as the 11 designers went all out with creative collections. On display were funk and urban wear ranging from causal, formal, to evening wear for men and women.
After over four hours , the judges who included Zimbabwe Fashion Week founder Priscilla Chigariro and ZFW emerging designer Tinashe “Znzorzi Adby” Phiri, finally announced the winners.

“Choosing the best designers was difficult as most of them had brilliant designs. However, there were factors that we looked at during the judging process and these are personality of the clothes, cohesiveness of the collections, structure, construction and the finishing on the garments,” said Chigariro as she announced the winners.

Police in Ghana are searching for the body of Afrobeats artist Castro following a suspected boating accident.
He was reportedly with a female friend on Sunday when the incident is thought to have taken place. Their sea scooter has been recovered by police.
Friends have taken to social media to pay tribute to Castro, whose real name is Theophilus Tagoe, despite his death not being officially confirmed.

Tributes have been tweeted by Lethal Bizzle, Sway and Tinchy Stryder.

Castro is currently number one in DJ Edu's 1Xtra Destination Africa chart with his remix of Sarkodie's Adonai.
Lethal Bizzle wrote: "My favourite Ghanaian artist :(. #RIPCastro".
Tinchy Styder tweeted: "My thoughts go out to Castro, his friends & family! Words can't even explain the shock I got when I heard the news! You're with the angels!"
His manager DJ Amess said that Castro had only returned to Ghana on Thursday and was celebrating with his friends, including footballer Asamoah Gyan.

He said Castro was joined by a woman but said it was not his girlfriend.

"She jumped into the boat to cruise with Castro," he said. "Castro refused her but the girl said that she would go.

"When they took off, the bystanders were calling for them to return so that the girl would put on her life jacket. Castro was already wearing his."

He said they did not hear calls from people who were standing watching him on a bank in Ada.

Footballer Asamoah Gyan expressed his sadnessWitnesses told him they saw Castro take off his life jacket to try to save the woman after she jumped into the water.

"After they were a few miles away, they saw the girl jump from the boat into the river," he said. "Maybe she was afraid.

"I wasn't there so I can't confirm it but somebody told me this. Then Castro followed suit. He thought he could have saved the girl.

"He was wearing the life jacket so the moment he fell into the water he was not able to save the girl.

"They told me they saw him removing the jacket. I wasn't there so I can't confirm whether it's true or not."

He also said he had spoken to Castro's parents.

"It's a disaster for the family," he said.
