"We all realised that in each of our repertoires there is an Aretha Franklin medley... so we just decided to work the stage together as a group and the response was tremendous," Myers told the Jamaica Observer.
With positive response from the audience, the ladies, whose collective years of stage experience total around 100 years, decided to embrace change and work together, while not sacrificing their individual careers.
"This is a fresh approach," said Smith. "There is such a rich sound and blend that we have as a group and, I dare say, it is a sound that is not out there... the harmony is amazing. The level of professionalism that we bring due to our years in the business is astounding," she added.
For Edwards, who was once a member of the Montego Bay-based trio Ebony, being part of another group is familiar territory, but something she enjoys.
"Being part of a group is like being in a relationship. Having been in a group before, I know what it's all about. You have to work at building the relationship so that you can move from friends to being like family, and I feel it with Gem and Karen," Edwards stated.
Package made its media debut a week ago, as guests performers at the Miss Universe Jamaica coronation show which was broadcast live on television. Despite only performing eight minutes, the trio's soaring voices and tight harmonies earned accolades from the public.
"It shows the power of TV. We were on for all of eight minutes and the reactions have been so positive. Then there is social media, and that has been good to us too," said Smith. "It really proves to me that I am doing what I am supposed to do, which is perform."
Smith has nothing but high marks for the other two members of Package.
"Just seeing Gem on stage is a treat for me. Her phrasing, her command of the stage and comfort level with the music is just fantastic... there is only one Gem Myers. For Patricia it is that voice... the impact she has on a show just makes it an experience.
Myers also had high praises for the other two.
"Karen's effervescence... man it just shines through when she performs and she brings a charm to the stage. Patricia and I have been great girlfriends for the past 25 years and I respect her talent without a doubt"
Edwards also reflected on the strengths of her counterparts.
"Karen's genuine spirit comes across in her music and it makes a performance so much richer. Gem and I are so close, and I just love the bond that we have. It makes the performance so much more special."
Package has three performances under their belt. They are excited about what lies ahead for the country's 'newest' girl group.
"I love to sing in a group so I welcome this change,"remarked Myers.
"The sky is the limit for Package,"stated Edwards.
"Would we like to have success like Omi?... yeah!... Let us see," said Smith.
