Mbira songstress Diana Samkange says she has overcome the shock of being involved in an accident last week and will continue staging live shows. Speaking to The Herald Entertainment, Samkange said the accident that happened in the capital was minor and it will not stop her from holding shows.
"I have been receiving calls from my fans asking about my condition after the accident but all is fine with me," she said.
The "Kumagumo Erudo" hit maker said her vehicle veered off the road and hit a wall but she escaped without any injury though the car got damaged.
She is currently riding high with her single "Tikure Murudo".
Last year she established a new recording stable that is assisting upcoming artists. The stable was named Mangwenya after her style of playing the mbira instrument.
"All is going according to our plan and the stable has assisted a number of artists especially the girl child. Music stables that are owned and run by artists are sensitive to our basic needs and this is the time to show the world that we can assist each other in coming up with new productions," she said.
To prove her word Samkange will play at Legends Bar in Marondera tomorrow night.
Show organiser Daniel Masaiti said all has been put in place for the show and her fans must come.
"We have organised this show after I heard she has been involved in acar accident but she told me she is fine and she wanted to prove it to her fans," she said.
He added that they have decided to add a reggae outfit from the Mashonaland East capital House of Stone.
"We have to bring them to the limelight and they will be performing alongside Samkange," he said.
Legends Bar is slowly reviving entertainment in Marondera and different artists have performed at the venue.
Next month the joint will host Suluman Chimbetu and Pah Chihera on April 12.
